Goa Gil & Ariane in Budapest

by greenmojito

The legend of goa trance is on his world tour (http://www.goagil.com/). On July 18-19 he visited Budapest with 24 set over a weekend…

0

The party started on Saturday evening and continued until Sunday. As I left at 8a.m. and the party was still going on, I cannot tell the exact time when it finished. First of all, the location was really perfect for a good goa trance party – an open air somewhere between the hills in several km from the village called Budakeszi. This village is situated to the north of Budapest in a hilly continuation of Buda side, 10 km far from the Budapest city centre. A party bus was delivering people from the village to the party location which was ca. 1 km away from the road which meant nice walking in the total darkness.

2

The decorations were simple but nice and some infrastructure like places with drinks, snacks and some usual stuff like clothes and similar occupied the place around the dance grounds. The rest was occupied by tents…

1

Goa Gil turned out to be alone, no Arianne was seen around. Interestingly, uncle Gil was all the time on the stage without leaving it but for some 2-3 minutes once several hours. I wonder how much energy he has for a 24 set!

3
The crowd was freezing a bit, but after midnight when the psy rhythms became totally fast the crowd got warmed up by crazy jumping and dancing around…

4
Overall, the music was really great, mostly these were new tracks with which Goa is on tour nowadays. The rhythm was rather fast and melodic at the same time changing in some broken rhythmic pieces and then some calm tune that was ready to convert back to high speed melody. Some lighting effects and usual fire play tried to follow the music to contribute to atmosphere.

5
People were enjoying the music and themselves until morning when the crowd started to dissolve in the nature… Goa still kept on playing, hopefully he also enjoyed Hungarian (mostly) audience and will come back at some point in the future.

Ehhhhh? Is this a Disco night ? Well, not quite….

The name IS IT ALL OVER MY FACE is a classic West End disco track from 1980 by Arthur Russell, producer, musician, artist… and now – a two day tribute rave celebrating electronic dance music in all it’s forms.

Starting Saturday, 01 August, 14:00 until Sunday, 02 August late into the night, the complete area will be transformed into an unusual celebration location to present music from downtempo to techno to house to disco – a free mix of sounds and textures that do not adhere to anyone’s rules of how electronic dance music is supposed to be.

In Berlin there is of course a large selection of suitable locations, but the Rechenzentrum / Funkpark is very special. It has the best of both worlds with its Funkpark Outdoor nature AREA on the river and the INDOOR cube with its full club soundsystem and massive dancefloor – the only rival to Function One’s monopoly in Berlin. This place is unequalled in Berlin – perfect for a party inside and outside in high summer.

And now to the music: Among others Len Faki, James Ruskin (UK), Redshape, Sandwell District featuring Regis and Function (NYC/UK), Savas Pascalidis and Whatyes will show why they rank among the most popular international artists and prove how they have made the dancefloors of the world happy. A Guy Called Gerald (UK) will welcome us into his studio with another epic freestyle LIVE session. The outdoor area will bring us the dub to techno spectrum that is Deadbeat Live and an Arthur Russell tribute set by DJ Kaos. To bring the currywurst taste into the fish n chips we mixed up Berlin and London local heroes with Tony Lioni – Live, Sven Dohse, Hof Gutow, Kenny Cee (UK), Alan Sommerville (UK), DJ Mack, Bleed and Janina.

Peace

summer

by dr0fn0thing

all right people, summer in berlin fails a bit this year. many outdoor events get flooded by rain. but the last days we were a bit more lucky. maybe you wondered why i don’t write party reports so often anymore. it’s because i visited many events at very nice places (berghain, bar25, about blank) and didn’t want to write a sloopy report like “spent 15 hours at berghain, one of my best club experiences, still excited”. because… i think it’s rather irrelevant, thousands go there and just enjoy, and on the other hand i don’t want to be this club-guide like writer just giving you the facts “how to get into berghain”, “what’s the timetable in bar25″ and so on…. when i get in a kind of poetic mood again i will share some of the experiences with you. if you just want some hard facts about berlin clubs just ask :)
on thursday i will leave to italy, our blog will be even more sporadic than now. first i’ll go to re:loaded (aka the new sonica) and then head over to the greek islands. 2 weeks later i shall show you the pics and tell nasty stories about fancypunk ;)

meanwhile, listen to this nice track of deshlab, called summer rain

Rio Festival in Budapest

by greenmojito

festivalflyer

Radio 1 presents… a continuation of summer festivals chain in Hungary! This time a bunch of DJs and bands will warm up hot Budapest (yes, it is around +35 here these days) for the whole week from July 27 to July 31! I guess tehir aim is to turn Budapest into Rio, at least for the end of July. Or, maybe, this is just the name of the open air club on the bank of the Danube that gave the name to the festival, who knows.

To some people this festival may seem too pop, but this is the matter of taste. Among the majority of Hungarian persormers such famous names as Markus Schulz, Roger Sancsez, Morcheeba and Sander van Doorn can be found.

The latter are headliners of each corresponding day, otherwise people ususally attracted by big names won’t bother coming to the party in the middle of the week.

If you want to get more detailed program, just visit the Rio Festival website: http://fesztival.rio.hu/
