Freakuency is a new decentralized radio online in a testing level which is started after long discussions , little steps of development , searching for resources , sharing skills. We are definitely convinced that was the right way to start a radio project. A horizontal way with all of us participating in a beautiful decentralized process with one purpose: starting a new online radio project collective related to electronic music interests.
Finally we succeed , our efforts came out with results and our little radio is online. Techno , minimal dj sets , house tunes , progressive attitudes , underground concepts , supporting local scenes and artists , drum n bass , dubstep as well as electro releases are occupying the self organized DIY “studios of our decentralised radio , broadcasting from everywhere.
Our project is open to new contributions and ideas , the only thing you have to do is to send us an open letter to our email address , describing your ideas. If you re willing to do it we will be glad to reply to you as soon as possible. The day schedule of our radio is an open process for discussion , with our collective discussing every new idea and possibility. So feel free to share your ideas with us
for new ideas and suggestions you can mail us here freakuencyradio@gmail.com and you can listen online here

TSUYOSHI SUZUKI / Matsuri Production
DJ TSUYOSHI is co-founder of the legendary trance label Matsuri Productions. London ( ’94-’99 ): You probably know him more as an international techno-trance dj. He was the resident DJ at the Return to the Source in England in 94, and has played some of the biggest electronic events in the world including the Berlin Love Parade, The Sydney Mardi-gras, Fuji Rock festival, Tribal Gathering, Fenix festival, Rainbow 2000, Earthcore and Return to the Source. He has also released some his own albums and singles and various mix CD’s and was the musical director for ISSEY MIYAKE and VERSACE. In 1999 he started the monthly night at NYfs ARC(ex-VINYL,TWILO). He returned to his home town of TOKYO in 2000 and started his own regular party TOKIODROME (www.tokiodrome.com).
MARK ALLEN / Matsuri Production
Mark first got into psychedelic electronic dance music in 1991 , during his first visit to Goa . Many travellers from all over the world converged on the palm fringed beaches to relax and to dance to music that people had brought with them on cassette .
He returned to London after 6 months in India to start training as a solicitor , but the mission closest to his heart was to collect all the music that he had been inspired by in Goa He bought himself some Technics turntables and together with a small group of friends , started putting on small private parties in friends flats. These events evolved into the renowned “Pagan” parties , which are still going strong on the London underground scene .
In 1993 , after qualifying as a solicitor , he spent another 6 months in India , during which time I decided that he had to make Djing and creating music his main thing . The double-life was not going to work and he had to pursue what he enjoyed most .
Meanwhile , Mark hooked up with fellow Pagan DJ Chrisbo and producers
Simon Maine and John Ford to form the techno outfit “Mindfield”. The next year gave Mark his first taste of live gigs and record releases but his DJ career really took off when “Return to the Source ” started in the summer of ’94 at North London’s Rocket Club.
The success of the early parties confirmed that the time was right for psychedelic trance music to reach a wider audience. Too many people had been inspired by the music for it to remain exclusive to a small tribe of travelling party people.Having changed venues several times, following the closure of the Rocket, from 30th April, RTTS will once again be there on a monthly basis.
The Trance community continues to grow steadily throughout the world and Mark has been making the most of the travel opportunities this has provided. 1996 and 1997 included many trips to Greece , France and Switzerland , gigs in Germany ,Spain , the Burning Man Festival in the Nevada desert and two Source parties in New York , Israel , Italy , Berlin (on Love Parade day) and Belgrade for open air parties, Guadeloupe and to Japan for the incredible outdoor Return to the Source party at the foot of Mount Fuji, Ibiza, San Francisco and the three day ‘Boom’ trance festival in Portugal .
Mark has been involved in musical collaborations with The Green Nuns of the Revolution , Nick Taylor from Prana , Andy Guthrie (AKA “Funkopath”) from Medicine Drum and two of the guys from O.O.O.D. The new Quirk album with Tim Healey was released on Matsuri Productions in mid-January, preceded by a 12″ single titled ‘Dance with the Devil e.p.’Quirk began promoting the material with PA appearances at ‘Science Fiction in London, Sunrise Zone in Athens, the Locomotive in Paris and Natraj Temple in Munich. Throughout January and February, Quirk did a highly successful mini-world tour, including Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Germany. (See April edition of “Wax” magazine, p56 for a report.)
The first CD Mark mixed and compiled was in 1995 , being the first in the “Deck Wizards” series on Psychic Deli Records. This was followed by ‘Sonic Initiation’ on Kickin’ records. Mark recently finished his third CD mix, the second volume in the ‘Shamanic Trance’ series from Return to the Source. This was released on the Positiva record label in March 1998.
So mates… HUGE event in my opinion for every trancer in Greece!

Lovely news , Super Cozi and Gus Till gave an interview at musicmall.com web magazine concerning their future plans , talking about life , music and the new record label/studio. Last year some friends from Athens got totally impressed by Super cozi’s live performance and dj set when She appeared on stage after a live P.A of Juno reactor one of the most well known trance projects in the world. Super cozi is a progressive techno , deep and acid electro beats dj and with excellent live act performing skills from Tokyo. Tracks and albums have released in various compilations in the past years such as the legendary Dragonfly records from the UK (in 2002 together with Gus Till under the name Zen lemonade , release an album which have recieved critical acclaim , at least acording her info page on myspace).
The work of Zen lemonade and Super cozi has attract my music interests the past two years therefore I will post again more news whenever I got some updates.
An other interesting event organized by FUNXION collective and Urban danja in Athens , this time it will take place in Padeios university. NOCTURNAL from the UK is the special guess of the night. The party will be open air at the yard of the university building.
If you live in Athens , visit or whatever , dont miss tonight a hip hop , drum n bass , breakbeat and probably dubstep event. A hip hop crew in collaboration with the collective of FUNXION will keep you awake until late in the morning tonight. The live event will take place at the strefi hill in the very heart of exarchia. In my point of view , this is the best recomendation for tonight in the city , without ignoring the problem that the events have the same concept always , something that for a lot of people make it a bit borring , as I heard yesterday night by some friends. If the weather is bad the event will move in Politechnical university , 5 min walking.
Through the course of the past few years, the new generation of Greek underground dance producers has accomplished something that still remains a difficult feat to the majority of the mainstream artists of the same country. To make a breakthrough in the international dance arena, through releases in renowned foreign labels and gigs in the most esteemed clubs and festivals around the world. What is also noteworthy is the fact that a great portion of the aforementioned artists have more bookings abroad than in the frontiers of their own country. It’s a fact that Greece possesses a vibrant dance scene that still starves for spaces and locations that can promote their work and their aesthetics. Locations that live up to an alternative mentality, technically apt and familiar to those who refuse to forget and those who crave to know the «rave» aspect of a party.
Apart from the artists who are still based in Athens, many djs/producers have already relocated abroad in cities like London and Berlin, establishing an even closer relationship with the international dance scene and putting together a bio that impresses with gigs at well-known festivals like Movement (Detroit/U.S.A.), Sonar (Barcelona/Spain), Εxit (Novi Sad/ Serbia), Winter Μusic Conference (Miami/U.S.A.) and many more.
Therefore it’s obvious beyond a shadow of a doubt, that it is time for the Greek dance scene to receive its kiss of life and to be promoted in the way that it truly deserves, as a unity and not fragmented. This is the basic motive behind the initiative of Panayiotis Pilafas, a new music talent from New York, and Nektarios Ioannidis, the one of the founders of the team reSOLUTE, who after a really successful event series in New York, decided to organize a 36 hour dance event, in their birth place, under the title “ένTechno”, on the 5th of September at the Cultural Center «Hellenic Cosmos». The confirmed line-up this far, includes Argy, GummiHz, K.atou, Cj Jeff, Leon Segka, Mr.Statik, Lemos, Kreon, Tolis Q, while headliners of the party are Ellen Allien and Wighnomy Brothers.
Of course, ένTechno’s programme will be enriched during the following months with added artists, projections, workshops, e.t.c.
ENTECHNO – πρόγραμμα / line-up:
Σάββατο 5 Σεπτεμβρίου / Saturday, September the 5th:
In my opinion this is the BEST event/fest that is taking place in Balkan area in one of the coolest locations ever in Croatia. Outlook festival this year is taking place in /Croatia from 11th to 13th of September 2009. If you re close to Croatia especially in Italy dont miss it , the fest has a perfect concept as well as a brilliant line up. (check bellow the fests introduction) or rather better check on their website
here’s the text from their website:
INTRO
Outlook Festivals “Exodus to Croatia” is not only the biggest and most comprehensive dubstep line-up in the world but also features some of the best names in soundsystem culture from the worlds of Dub & Dubstep, Reggae, Dancehall, Roots, Soul and Dancefloor Beats. . . . . and the line-up is still growing. With more artists still to be announced this years festival looks set to explode.
After last years massive success at The Garden, Petrcane, and this years enormous launch party in London with over 1800 attendees (400 more than we had at last years festival) tickets for this years festival are flying out so quickly that we have had no choice but to find a bigger venue. Which is exactly what we have done. And we are overjoyed with the new location.
We can now accommodate twice the number of people (3000) with a club that can fit everyone in (just about). Sandy Beaches, Monster Soundsystem. . . a beautiful location for a week of great basslines & beats, good friends, great bodies and the perfect place to learn how to Bogle.
Our new home is on the Island of Pag, a place well known for its beautiful sandy beaches and parties that go long into the night. At the new site you can still swim in the glistening Adriatic, dance under the stars & join us aboard the amazing Boat Parties.
You can see video’s of last years festival and the launch party here
You can come and stay for a week or just a long weekend, there’s plenty to see and do and there will be entertainment and
shenanigans provided for the duration. Musical entertainment will take place on a terraced bar on by the sea for day and night-time dancing, an outside amphitheatre overlooking the ocean for live acts, the nightclub and of course not forgetting the Boat Party.
The surrounding area is equally beautiful and there is loads to do such as island hopping, exploring the national parks and nearby mountains, enjoying the culinary delights of the local farming and fishing villages or simply relaxing on any of the various beaches – for more info please visit the local tourist board – www.croatia.hr

Im coming up with this month’S special edition once again for an other favorite drum n bass dj and producer by Metalheadz named “PESHAY” , I guess quite popular to the Londoner and beyond drum n bass scene!
Peshay’s rise through the drum’n'bass scene has been nothing short of meteoric. Respected worldwide for his releases on labels such as Metalheadz, Good Looking, Mo Wax and Island to name but a few.
His ability to produce at the highest levels and his excellence behind the decks is legendary. When he DJs, 4 minute mixes are the norm and the excitement that he generates describe Peshay perfectly. Always on the go, hyperactive, talkative and passionate.
Whilst growing up, Peshay found himself listening to an assortment of music ranging from opera to electro. His obsession with the new house scene developing in the early 80′s made him decide that as far as making a living was concerned this was the path he wished to follow.
Peshay left his job in the printing industry and decided to concentrate full time on his musical career. He bought a pair of Technics and started sending tapes out to promoters which led to his first break at Bass Box in April 91. He also went on to play for Genesis @ Rollers Express, Fascination @ Tasco Warehouse and both Dreamscape & Fantazia. Within a short period of time his DJ’ing ability helped him to secure regular bookings all over the world.
Peshays first recordings came about after hooking up with the infamous BAY B KANE and the “ROUGH GUIDANCE EP” was made and then BIZZY B with the “2 DOPE EP”. Both smashed the rave scene in 1992. As well as hooking up with DAVE CHARLESWORTH at ADR and the “CATCH IT” track was released.
Meeting GOLDIE one evening led to Peshay meeting DEGO and GUS at REINFORCED. This led to the “PROTÉGÉ EP” that first brought Peshay into the spotlight. The EP smashed it and this led to an increase in Peshays DJ work.
At a Dreamscape event in 1992 LTJ BUKEM introduced himself to Peshay it was this meeting that eventually led to a joint collaboration which produced “19.5″ and Peshays first solo outings, the awesome “PIANO & VOCAL TUNES”, now all acclaimed classics for the GOOD LOOKING imprint.
Then due to an illness Peshay was unable to DJ or produce for nearly two years. His comeback session at Metalheadz bluenote club is still talked about today. It wasn’t long before Peshay had re-established himself both behind the decks and in the recording studio.
After a couple of projects for BASEMENT RECORDS which include “FUTURAMA” and “ROLL THE BEATS”, Peshay produced “PSYCHOSIS”, “PREDATOR”, “ON THE NILE” and “NOCTURNAL” as well as a host of remixes for METALHEADZ. Peshay also contributed to the acclaimed “LOGICAL PROGRESSION” and “PLATINUM BREAKS” albums with FFRR as well as being chosen to remix both releases from the acclaimed album “TIMELESS” by Goldie, as well as stinging remixes of Ltj Bukem’s “MUSIC” and GALLIANO’s “FREEFALL”.
Peshay was signed by JAMES LAVELLE for MO WAX in late 1995. Peshay then locked himself away in the studio for almost a year until he had finished his debut album. Suddenly everything came to a grinding halt. As merger mania in the record industry came rumbling into Peshays life. By the end of 1998 Peshay finally found himself at ISLAND RECORDS. The critically acclaimed album “MILES FROM HOME” was released in 1999 on Island BLUE Records, the label managed by ROSS ALLEN.
In April 2002 Peshay alongside Co-Ordinate released the Anthemic “You Got Me Burning” which received worldwide acclaim and was played everywhere by everyone. After that followed the “Fuzion” album on Cublk Music which received rave reviews by a number of music magazines worldwide. “You Got Me Burning” was playlisted on Radio 1 and received airplay from the likes of Fabio & Grooverider,Chris Moyles,Mary Anne Hobbs,Dave Pierce etc etc. Then followed “Jammin” which was a break from the norm which incorporated a calypso style breakdown which got rewound everywhere from London to New Zealand!! A tune which created bedlam wherever and whenever it was played!!
Peshays remix credits include artists such as GALLIANO, JAY DEE, JOHN COLTRANE, PHOTEK, CARL CRAIG, GOLDIE, INGRID SCHROEDER, LTJ BUKEM, DJ SHADOW and COURTNEY PINE to name but a few. Always choosing to remix tunes he personally likes has produced an impressive catalogue of quality dance tracks.
In 2009 Peshay is set to return with his new album which will include a mixture of styles, tempos ranging from 90bpm through to 175bpm incorporating influences from Jazz,Disco,Funk,House,Hip Hop amongst others.
Last Friday an electronic music collective named Aposidonismos organized an open air event in the center of Athens. The party held at the yard of the Politechnical university. The sounds were mostly drum n bass , dubstep , techno acording actually the interests of the organizers. Actually this time I got impressed from that event , first of all because I really liked the dubstep who the dj selected as well as the skills of the MC , unfortunately dunno his name (PLEASE SEND ME A COMMENT IF YOU DO). The only problem was that not so many people joined , it seems that everybody is already escaped from the city , for summer vacation and perhaps that the dubstep was not enought especially for us who wanted to dance. I forgot to mention that were also some weird nasty noise Dj sets without much to say , especially If you have some knowledge. Sorry for not posting pictures but as far as I know was strictly forbiden
