We remain amazed from the King deluxe’s new releases. We have received few days ago an other new upcoming release from the label, scheduled for the 1st of May. We are writing for the first release of Alphabets heaven named boosh!. You can read the review from King Deluxe website bellow
“Coming from the beautiful boutique label that is King Deluxe is the May 1st release of Alphabets Heaven’s Boosh. Brighton’s own sovereign of the snares and kicks delivers a 7 track release featuring 3 works as well as 3 reworks, including one from Robot Koch. Though his modus operandi would indicate an EP full of clicks and clunks, Boosh beats to a different drum. Delivered is something much more rhythmic than just click and clunks. Thought there are some up tempo ditties, my personal faves are all of the slower tempo’ed pieces. The opener and title track does feature a steady measured and melodious piece full of efx, filters, still managing to creating a refrain from it all. But I found myself stuck on Deartentonine, drawn in possibly by the opening guitar sample, but then taken to this lavishly lush landscape conjuring images and sounds of wild flora & fauna, all done gracefully in an adagio pulse. YES.” – 92BPM
Tetraktys is the experimental/ambient debut EP by the promising Grecian duoEscape Velocity. The opening track Pythagoras has a nostalgic and yet so innovating feel about it. It showcases layers and layers of flawless production and sophisticated soundscapes that embrace the beauty and mysticism of mathematics.
The homonymous Tetraktys is another well-structured track with harmonic shifting tempos and killer hypotonic bass.
It feels like this EP is a sonic journey through time that ends with Hylozoism a melancholic ambient-dubstep hybrid infused with experimental glitches, odd time signatures and out worldly melodies.
The more I listen to it the more I like it, which at least in my experience means that it is a quality piece of music that undoubtedly deserves your attention.
This is an other release by Artist recordings that I can’t find many reasons to complain about. 4 tracks by GeneticBros – Overextended (Viper Rec,TalkinBeatz,Artist Recordings),Indivision - Evolution (Beta/Toolroom/Have-A-Break Recordings/Climate),Subsonik – feat.Essence – Inside Your Mind (Subsonik Sound Recordings),Prestige & Nik Itch – No Exit – (GRID Recordings are included to this first part of Artist recordings EP with official release date January the 23rd. Dreamy vocals, melodies combined with powerfull breaks designed for the dancefloor, seems to be the clear direction proposed by artist recordings. As we also mentioned few months ago in previous review concerning artist recording release, the background as well as the reasoning of the label does not seem so bad. I dare say is somewhat progressive in our days and this is because its efforts of trying to mobilize new artists to show their work and spread quickly new impressive tunes. So it is worth your attention. You can download it for free by following the link with the instructions at breakbeat.co.uk here
This is a feature concerning the best 5 (or what I consider) drum n bass releases , which I have presented at this blog the last year. As we do every year in December at the shituationist institute blog , we evaluate , feature our highlights. It would be great to send us your comments and mention some cool releases who probably are missing from this post. As usual there is no specific order of the following presented releases.

Rusko is one of the main dudes in the British dubstep scene , originally from Leeds. Last March stroke again with a new EP everyday/lick the Lizard . Great synths and pop influences as well as remixes such as that one by the famous drum n bass NETSKY. If you dont know this one already , you should check it out. Have a listen bellow
Skeptical’s vinyl debut was on Ingredients back in May 2010 with “Transfer / Block 305. This is the new one fresh released few days ago on ingredients records. 4 tracks are included on this ep and you can have a preview bellow this post.
Ingredients Records was launched in July 2009 by Clive aka Dj Psylence. Having been into the whole scene since the early days of 1991, raving to Ltj Bukem, Carl Cox, Hype, Fabio & Grooverider, Randall & Mickey Finn, then moving to london & attending the seminal Speed nights in the West End, as well as the first Metalheadz Sunday sessions in 1995, his experience of this genre was well equipped for the future. After playing on Pirate radio for 4 years & dj’ing in and around london for 10 years, he decided the time was right to launch a label.
The Austrian liquid drum n bass duo is back with 2 new EPs from the upcoming album cross the line soon available for download in digital format as well as vinyl. From what I listened both (all fall down and make the call) are following the style of the previous album , pop vocals , fast melodic drum n bass , with no doubt trying to reach the mainstream audience. The album is about to be released soon on hospital label , you can buy this release on their website indeed .
I cant really write here that I was fully impressed by both of the EPs , perhaps the only exception could be the track In The Future (feat. Jenna G & Futurebound) and this is because I like Jenna’s vocals. Make the call in both mixes – drum n bass and dubstep was too mainstream for my taste , but easy listening indeed. I rather wait to listen the whole album and write more extensively. You can instantly have a preview of all the track included those new Camo and Krooked release on their myspace here .
A new EP by Metalheadz has released last September , including 4 tracks .The tracks are a new collaboration of Rido and Hybris.
The EP sounds familliar to those who like and follow the releases by Metalheadz recently , at least I guess so.
The first track of the EP is “focus by rido” , fast breaks and definitely a very good studio production, the same for the second track by “Rido & Hybris called the first contact”. The third track , which is my favorite of this EP called “please exist by Hybris” is rather more mellodic and good track for the dancefloor , reminding me loads of great past tunes. The last track by Rido together with Hybris named “memento” is actually following the same concept of the previous tracks , nothing really spectacular in the end.If you like to buy this EP , you may visit the website of breakbeat.co.uk
You can listen the tracks bellow starting from my favorite track in this EP
People who follow my posts on this blog for sometime , apparently now that I usually dont really like the hard basslines on drum n bass , rather prefer mellodic stuff , but this release more or less is an exception. Already many of you commended that the hard bassline of the 4 tracks at this EP , could be awesome on the dancefloor. Therefore I decided to make this short post presenting this new release by Fully Submerged Records available for download at breakbeat.co.uk . Planet bass EP , 4 tracks full of hard breaks by a new? artist? abuv… Obviously I dont know much about the artist if any of you know anything please shoot a comment bellow and support the artist. An audio preview of the tracks (silenced , bang bang , astro core , my own home) in this EP here
This is a recent EP release by Calibre on Samurai music label. Samurai Music is a drum and bass label owned and directed by New Zealander Geoff Wright aka DJ Presha. This EP includes 4 tracks , absolutely fantastic melodic drum n bass tunes as well as good for dancing. You can have a preview of the tracks bellow
Samurai Red Seal presents the follow up to the hugely successful ‘Judgement Day’ EP
Calibre – ‘Hummer’ EP / Samurai Red Seal – REDSEAL012 / 2X12″ / Digital
This is the new EP (released at 22nd of June 2011) of our Australian friend -Dysphemic , a release which I was waiting for some time now. Dubstep-drum n bass-hip hop-glitchhop rythms and vocals are the main feature on this EP , like the previous dysphemic releases indeed. In my opinion the new EP is probably the best one so far , containing 3 tracks ( sloth , begging for more and tunnel vision). Sloth , the first track of this EP , with no doubt , it represents the sound of dysphemic as we know it from the previous tracks and releases. The second track “begging for more” in collaboration with Heinz and the “tunnel vision” with Miss ELisa on the amazing vocals and violin (perhaps my favorite track on this release) gives a taste of what we have to expect on the long awaited classical remix album , soon to be dropping late 2011.
You can download the new dysphemic EP , in any format you like here
The three tracks included in The Last Days Of Spring EP were recorded during the spring of 2011. The essential reason for these recordings was the internal situation of the city where I live, where a constant concern seemed frozen on people’s faces. Where any excitement ever existed in search of happiness, seemed now to be fast disintegrating into a panting decay of a mechanical life. At the same time, some gatherings with fellow artists and comrades musicians played some role. Meetings in a small and more “closed” studio city, factories of clandestine dreams, where people live and work for a love that knows nothing about time and a revolution that never ends. One of them I knew since the beginning of the 90’s, even before Los Angeles and New York kept him away from Athens for several years. Our paths met again, when six years ago, photography and journalism brought us back together. When I asked Freddie F. to collaborate with me, he accepted gladly, so he worked on the spoken delirium of Low Land, and from there it appeared to make a collaboration that in the future will breed more clandestine dreams. Equally important were these field recordings, which I made at Syntagma Square during the first peaceful assembly on May 25th. Digital audio files that found their way through an RE-201 Space-Echo machine and finally placed in the last two tracks of this EP. ION – The Last Days of Spring EP 01. Theme For An Occupied City 02.
