hans unstern with band @ Antje Øklesund

by dr0fn0thing

On tuesday i went to the “audiovisual laboratory” Antje Øklesund to see Hans Unstern, together with a band consisting of Paula Sell, Marcello Silvio Busato, Simon Bauer and Nackt.

First the place, it’s a small backyard culture place in the Rigaer Str. in Berlin Friedrichshain. They made it really nice, with installations, but also kept the rough industrial style.

Hans Unstern is a songwriter with a pretty experimental approach. Lately he has been recording with “Nackt”, and the new songs are really incredible. When I entered the place, they were just playing their first song, inside a big white box. You could only see them via a camcorder they had inside and the image was projected on a beamer and two small TVs. Then the band joined in with nice sound layers, partly created while playing the drumset with a violin bow and similiar innovations. The rest of the set they played outside their box and Unstern only entered the box again for his solo encore. The emotions of the set where brilliantly balanced, I enjoyed that evening so much.

Just listen to the song “Paris” on his myspace to get to know his hypnotic and emotional poetic songwriting.

Hans Unstern will play again on the 25th of April, again in Berlin. In the Schokoladen, together with Jolly Goods.

brockdorff klang labor is on tour again, berlin 3 dates

by dr0fn0thing

bkl

hello readers, one of my most loved electro bands is on tour again: Brockdorff Klang Labor from Leipzig.

They are like post-situationist, pre-new-rave, electro-punk, smart lab rockers. i love their album “mädchenmusik”. listen to them online, get the album.

20th and 21st of march in Leipzig (Germany) and on the 9th of April, 2nd of May and 6th of June in Berlin. Three dates for Berlin, and all interesting places: Schaubühne, Lokal (where the Love Techno Hate Germany and other great parties took place), Supamolly (you also know that place from our older party reports…).

here’s a little clip for you to get you in the mood.

(clip from their youtube account, pic above from their myspace)

their motto at the moment is, you say: party!, we say: die! well, ehm, anyways. i was there last year as they played in berlin, and it was a wonderful party :)

Future Sound Of London in Athens , too good and true

by fancypunk

The Future Sound of London (often abbreviated to FSOL) are a prolific British electronic music band composed of Garry Cobain and Brian Dougans. The fsolduo are often credited with pushing the boundaries of electronic music experimentation and of pioneering a new era of dance music.

Although often labelled as ambient, Cobain and Dougans usually resist being typecast into any one particular genre. Their work covers most areas of dance and electronic music such as ambient techno, drum n bass , trip hop, ambient dub, acid techno and often involves extreme experimentation; for example they have, since the turn of the millennium, experimented with psychedelic rock under their Amorphous Androgynous alias.

I think nobody will ever forget the albums ISDN , Papua New Guinea and the legendary DEAD cities. Future Sound Of London is definitely one of the holly monsters of electronic music. Acording information but unfortunately without confirmed dates yet , FSOL will visit Athens the upcoming months for the first time in Greece.. I will try to keep this post updated and announce the dates as far as I get them.
