Rainbow Pride in Bratislava, Slovakia

by greenmojito

BRAISLAVA, 22 May: the first Rainbow PRIDE in Slovakia ever!

The Duhovy (Rainbow) pride is Slovak march for human rights of non-heterosexual people, their social and political equalization and first celebration of LGBT pride. This is how the official site defines it. And this is just a piece of celebration of freedom to be different and demonstration of the victory of human rights. But moreover, a Rainbow Pride is a piece of music/visual masterpiece – loud, bright, diverse.

Of course, different kinds of people, not only LGBTI people will meet in the city center at 1p.m. in the center of Bratislava. Especially the people who are not indifferent to the concept of human rights and open society not indifferent.

Rainbow PRIDE Bratislava 2010 is organized by the NGO Queer Leaders Forum, informal group Queers and platform of other young Slovak activists.

What a Pride Parade is, in fact?

PRIDE means celebration of self-esteem not only of LGBT people and their sexual orientation and gender identity – but of every democratic and open society

Idea of PRIDE stems from three main fundamental:

  1. All the people should be proud of their sexual orientation and gender identity.
  2. Diversity is a gift.
  3. Sexual orientation and gender identity are natural and can not be changed on purpose.

PRIDE is the opposite of  the word „shame“ which the LGBT people have experienced – and in many countries still experience – just because of their “non-majority“ sexual orientation and gender identity.

PRIDE unhides whole community of non-heterosexual people.

PRIDE bonds people regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity.

PRIDE supports equal rights for LGBT people and their partnerships and families.

Anthony rother new release “Popkiller 2″ and a release party at Cocoon 21st of May

by fancypunk

POPKILLER IIAnthony Rother is often one of our residents at this blog. Actually many of us like his music and follow his work for many years now. For those who dont know Rother ,  is an electronic music producer and label owner (he owns datapunk)  living in Frankfurt. Our aim in this post  is a brief presentation of Anthony Rother’s contribution to electronic music , as well as to announce his new work Popkiller 2.

Anthony Rother counts an essential number of good electro and techno tracks and collaborations with artists such as dj hell , Sven vath and many others. In addition to electro Rother also composes dark ambient stuff. I catch up with his music actually not really in the beginning of his career but a bit later  in the 2007. The electro sound produced by Rother is rather unique characterized by repetitive  machine beats and robotic vocals , sometimes reminds a lot something of kraftwerk and the very beginning of this “futurist” concept.

A release “presentation party” of popkiller 2 will take place at 21th of May at legendary Cocoon  in Frankfurt , perform LIVE and play a DJ Set – with support from Butch and Sven Hartmüller, if you live close to this dont miss it.

party reports: our party weekend in Berlin and Athens

by insti2te

As we previously wrote at this blog, many good parties took place in Athens and Berlin this weekend.  The most remarkable perhaps were:  in Athens the party at Bios with Skream , Benga , Mala,  Shackleton (Saturday) and in Berlin an other big party at Berghain , Skream was also playing there (Friday). Besides these two events , Marx trukker was playing live also last Saturday at a soliparty in K9 and Borgore at another event of Fresh things first (you remember probably our party report two weeks before) .

ATHENS

The party at Bios accordingly the reports of our friends who went there , was totally awesome , besides always  few problematic facts. The official start time of the event was scheduled for 23.00 but in the end , an incredible delay took place. The entrance fee was a bit expensive but for obvious reasons (4 big names of dubstep scene were playing)

Finally the event started at 1.00. Skream and Benga played together (back to back) , their concept and mix was awesome , the  crowd was continually dancing. Some people probably found strange some times , few  of the remixes who those two guys playing , perhaps too British (remixes of rnb tracks and so on)  for the Greek macho dubstepers , but in the end everybody was satisfied with the brutal bass. Mala and Shackleton were also really good and unfortunately the Blackstar set was canceled. As far as I understood the party wasn’t boring at all  as well as totally packed. It seems that was the most successful dubstep party so far in Greece.

report by Fancypunk

The Borgore party that took place this Friday  at myga club was a total disaster!!! The sound was awful the crowd grotesque ,  half of the people at the party didn’t know  who was playing or any of his songs.  The club was packed , with no space to dance except for the usual pogo dancing.

This time  over powering almost the entire party.  There was no party attitude , just everyone showing off a male dominant attitude  , posing and not caring about the sound, the over priced drinks and  over 60 people waiting outside in order to get in. Even though the club upstairs had space  . We expect better sound quality parties from Fresh Things First  and less showing off .

BERLIN

the queue for friday was amazing, people had to wait for about 3 hours to get in at peak time… anyways i managed to get there in time for Skream (missed Scuba, though). I enjoyed it a lot, a really mixed mix, he tossed everything in, the styles were changing very fast. It was like he was just calling up the more pop-sounding tunes, played some short parts of them and then went on to something else as a contrast. Good fun and from the atmosphere in the big hall you would think that this concept really worked well. I didn’t stay so long this time, since after Tayo stopped playing (another nice set) downstairs, upstairs was really busy and after the dark and bass-orientated sets downstairs the fluffy house tunes upstairs wasn’t quite the right thing for me at that moment.

for saturdays party i have quite mixed feelings, the music was really nice, i was surprised by the set of pawlabel, initially i had only come for the live set of the Marx Trukker. They played very well and with a certain attitute of understatement that i liked a lot, just like Marx Trukker after them who was so concentrated that he forgot to close his mouth. The rest of the crowd unfortunatelly did not keep their mouth shut, there was a large gang of drunk youngsters making loud choirs of whatever. You have to know that during school holidays the left wing techno parties are a favorite destination for young kids to get to a party without bouncers and with cheap drinks. The only thing that I did like about parts of the young drunk schoolkids (not the mentioned hools) was that they celebrated all the effects and sounds the live producers played, even if they didn’t know who was playing and what kind of concept was behind it. These kids didn’t care for popular dancefloor hits, they just enjoyed.

Athens: Saturday April 10th Skream & Benga & Mala & Shackleton & Darkstar at Bios

by fancypunk

Breaking awesome news… This Saturday 5 big names of dubstep together in Athens at Bios. For the first time in Greece two of the most essential dubstep producers , Benga and Skream are coming in Athens. Together with them , Mala and Shackleton as well as the duo Darkstar. Im not sure if Skream and Benga are already a bit oldschool or not , but the event will be great in any sense of the word in my opinion. People who wants to get closer to dubstep , it seems that this is the best change they ever had. Lets focus on every artist separately and write an extend informative introduction  concerning all of them.

Skream is originally from Croydon (UK) and  is considered as one of the artists who contributed to the creation of dubstep as well as the genre’s diffusion. His track “Midnight Request Line”(released in 2005 from tempa label) many of you know already from my radio Breakz essentialz,  is one of the most noticeable dubstep tracks ever. Skream is also responsible for the classic EPs Skreamizm as well as the popular remixes on tracks of La roux and Bat for Lashes. His first album released by tempa label in 2006 and the second album is coming up this year named “out of the box”.

Benga is also a noticeable dubstep artist also from the UK. He is a friend of Skream since his childhood and He released several good singles on labels such as Big Apple , Planet Mu , Hotflush etc. His forst Album released also in tempa label named “Diary Of An Afro Warrior”.

http://www.myspace.com/bengabeats

Mala is member of Digital Mystikz , the Londoner djs and producers who cotributed to dubstep diffusion as much as nobody else. He is the resident of the Digital Mystikz club dubstep night as well as the owner of DMZ label.

http://www.myspace.com/malamystikz

Darkstart is an awesome duo also from the UK.  James Young , Aiden Whalley met for the first time in 2002 and together established a label named 2010. At their label have released a couple of  nice singles.

Shackleton counts several good collaborations such as with Loefah and Digital Mystikz. He was the owner together with Appleblim of the Label Skull Disco. Recently he joined the german label Perlon.

Astron bar Athens tomorrow

by fancypunk

Im posting this flyer  of this event at Astron bar (“always with free entrance” )(Astron is near to psiri square in the city center)   for those who were asking me yesterday and today if any party is taking place in the city tomorrow. I know every year these days ,  its boring because of  this nasty Orthodox Christian tradition of going out of the city . Well I think this party should be a good recommendation. If you know more events please send me .. I will post them all at the blog today and tomorrow.
