Marusha radio show back to 1991 collection

As I promised to a handful of readers of the shituationist institute who follow me on facebook , I was about to post something really special today , celebrating the 3rd year old birthday of this blog. I realized recently that the new generation of ravers and contemporary music followers in some point totally ignore the past years of the scene. Therefore i have searched and found few exclusive radio shows on the berlin radio in the beginning of the 90s named dancehall by the well known to older generation of ravers “Marusha”.
Marusha remains in my opinion part of the essential times of the rave explosion , her name will remain connected with the years of rave counter-commodity culture , temporary liberated zones and certainly with the Love Parade. Unfortunately You cant download the files besides the last one which is only 8 min, but you can probably find something by searching on the web. cheers

Reviews: Rustie Glass Swords

As I mentioned to you few weeks ago , on the shituationist instute , we were impantiently waiting the debut album of our beloved Rustie and today here we are: the album was scheduled to be released oficially at the 10th of October. Certainly waiting , was for good.
The Glass Swords album on warp label is an absolutely massive release. In London the album was already presented by rustie at Xoyo as well as this week rustie is presenting the album in Glasgow (check out events list this wednesday). Every track in the album with rythmic switch ups , gorgeous synths combined with 90s rave shit is shaking the UK dancefloors already. With no doubt there is something fresh , progressive and definitely promising for long terms within dubstep scene. In other words , I cant hide my excitement , basically because i was waiting of the album by rustie for some time now , in my opinion one of the best Scottish artists in our days. You can listen the whole album on the website of Gardian here , no registration needed , enjoy. More concerning this release and Warp records at http://warp.net/records/releases/rustie/glass-swords
5 tracks selection by Anon Proxy
This is a little, rough mixed vinyl-selection I prepared, combining something between Post-Dubstep, House, Electro and Rave stuff.
hollywood hipster rave riot
News choppers overhead. The man trying to shut us down. Hang on I am coming!!! This is crazy.
Kaskade
3 cop cars damaged, 3 people arrested (2 released shortly after. FREE THE UNKNOWN RAVER) after a little street gathering in front of an invitation-only kaskade gig. here is an article about it. even in hollywood cops can expect people throwing stuff at them or performing other ridicoulus mass rituals (like planking… see video above) when attacking people having fun.
Fusion 2011, some fragmentary impressions
Instead of telling you everything we have experienced at Fusion-Festival this year (too many stories for this small space) we decided to give you a little overview about some interesting acts we’ve seen and share some pictures.
individualusername:
At first i want to mention Bingo Ingo & Die Bingo Band, who made an crazy combination of Bingo-Rock ( with songs like “In the Mood for Bingo” or “Sweet Bingo Boy” ) and a Bingo-Gala, which I really enjoyed. We´ve managed to win 2 bottles of champagne and lots of booze there, that helped us to survive the rainy fusion nights. Another great act was Tour de Vinyl , who did an perfomance with a laptop and 2 hometrainer-bikes, that where moving the turntables, playing some comedy and audio-drama records. I also really enjoyed the gig of Toni Haupt & Band , playing an mostly improvised slow semi-electric concert at the dubstation, with live-vocals, drums, a horn-section and a laptop, getting all the dubheads up to dance. Another interesting concert I´ve seen, was by Station 17 , a band out of people with Down´s Syndrom, who where really rocking the floor with an energetic mixture out of technoid Krautrock, Dub and Hip-Hop. But most of all I enjoyed the gig of Guru Guru, who are a legendary and very influental german Kraut- and Acid-Rock group, playing constantly since the late 60´s and alltough they are ( as i suppose ) all over 70 now, still make totally freaked-out live-shows, as you can see in this video for example.
and very few pictures from dr0fn0thing:
there is a pretty professional video out there, too professional and clean to represent this festival or any of the more freaky parts that individualusername recommended above, but whatever (let’s not romantisize retrounderground culture and crypto elitism), i’ll just embed it here for you to watch:
Reminder: Institute Party this Friday
Just one day left untill the Institute Party in Berlin and we are all really excited about it. This time we collaborate with the guys from the action comitee for neuronal enhancement (A.K.N.E.) and the party will take part at both floors of marvellous Levee-Club, which has become one of my personal favourite clubs in Berlin so far, because of its wonderful atmosphere and the damned good speakers there. We will feature some exhibitions and video-screenings by young Berlin artist as well as some stuff by Institute-members from Athens and decoration by Totalumbau, who allready did a great job at the first A.K.N.E.-Party last year at Raum18. As musicians we invited some of our favourite Live-Acts and Dj´s ranging from more experimental stuff to highly danceable housemusic. The opening of the upper floor will be done by Affaire Zweifuss, who you may remember from the artist-feature or his exclusive-mix, we had on the blog. He will be followed by Dr.Nojoke, who plays an special 2h-Clikno-live-set and has prepared a lot of new, unheard stuff for the Party. After the Doctor, The Marx Trukker will start playing one of his unique, analog Acid- live-sets. You can check an interview we had with him some months ago here. The next one will be Funkenström, who is well known for catchy, housy live-sets and his great releases on the Netlabel Symbiont-Music. Then its time for Wesenberg, a young upcoming Live-Act, with an fresh and seducing sound somewhere between Minimal,House and Dub. After him B.Wurst & Schlendrian Klimperbeat from A.K.N.E. and the Berlin Shituationist will play some afterhourish Techno, for those who left and close down the Party. The floor downstairs will be opened by Manuela Mayoral from Spain, who established in Berlin very fast with her nice Dj-Sets ranging from Vocal- & Jack-House over Disco untill Broken Beats. After her Neulich Irgendwo from Potsdam will take over the turntables with his unique blend of Disco-House and Oldschool-Classics and will be followed by Bastian Kurzweil from the Dienstagswelt-crew, who is known for his crazy, uplifting Techhouse-Sets. So far thats all I can tell you about the Party. I hope to see you all there, spending an great powerraving night with the Berlin Shituationists !
record reviews: robot for brains – The Hard Way
With no doubt , you remember the interview of Robot for brains with MNanotek on this blog a few months ago. Today we focus again on robot for brains , presenting his EP “the hard way” as well as offering a link to download it for free.
Hard way ep is a selection of robot for brains tracks released on swischotheque. All tracks written, recorded, mixed & mastered by Gareth Cox from 07′ to 09′ using both hardware and software. Additional Mastering by Sven at ‘Borglab’.
All the tracks of this EP are beautiful. That acid sound inside this release is totally a blast especially the “this is life” and “Rfb acid”. I still cant decide which track is my favorite , i love them both. “This is life” is totally a “k hole”
and “Rfb acid” is simply a track you wanna keep on repeat mode. After listening to this EP , I rather think that we should keep the connection with the sound of the past and transform it in a progressive way. This EP is a good example of what I would like to listen , find and present on this blog future term.
The remixes by Thornton Force and Nightcrawlers are awesome as well. I think you should download this EP. highly recommended
featured artists : Armando Gallop
Armando Gallup , 15 years after his death of leukemia in 1996 , remains one of the topest artists in electronic music history. Armando is definitely one of those most important early contributors to the acid house and electronic music development.
The afro Cuban(origins) dj and producer lived in Chicago US. Chicago one of the American metropolis, where house music was emergent in the 90s. Armando Gallop can easily considered as one of the most influential artists of Chicago as well as within the history of electronic music . He counts a number of good tracks(singles) , often defined as “killers” , furthermore some of them became big hits both in the US and UK such as the “151″ and “land of Confusion”. Armando together with Mike Dunn were also the founders of warehouse and musique records in 1988 , two well-known labels to the people who followed or were part of the acid house movement in the late 80s , certainly responsible for the genre’s development.
Instead of production Armando rather focused on djing especially the years 92-94 at Chicago’s warehouse. Armando released only one full-length album , the legendary “one world one future” in 1996 on play it again Sam records , actually few months before his death. Currently some of his fans and the community people in Chicago are putting efforts to keep Armando’s memory in public consciousness as well as save his recordings which many of them Im afraid are already lost. You can read an extend article concerning the life and music of Armando by Terry Matthew for 5 magazine of Chicago . “5″ is magazine concerning house music with recent updates (February 2011) from his life , creativity years , his recordings etc.
Even if Armando is dead , hopefully his music will remain alive. Basically many people still think that his music is inspiring , few months ago for instance I was at a party and suddenly I recognized that the dj was playing couple of his tracks together with Jeff mills and so on. Some of those tracks you can find bellow this brief presentation article dedicated in the memory of a legend , the legend called Armando Gallop.
151 ( probably one of the best acid house tracks ever made)

Party Review : Tyree Cooper & Blake Baxter @ Suicide Circus, Berlin
Because we had allready seen Blake Baxter twice at Suicide Circus and always enjoyed his sets and the Club very much as you could read in the earlier reviews, we decided to go to see the Prince of Techno again this Friday. This time together with the Prince of Hip House – Tyree Cooper and the Killekill-Resident Dj-Flush, who is known for his hard oldschool techno sets.
After an nice housy warm-up set by Jochen Otto , Tyree Cooper started playing at about 2.00. Starting with some old Jackhouse-Classics, he was moving on from House to Disco and Techno- Classics, but somehow without any concept in his mix and with hard problems in syncing his timecode-records, which was one the reasons why we didnt enjoy his set very much. An other reasons was, that he was constantly putting down the music for shouting out, that he is the House-legend Tyree Cooper, which as i suppose everybody knew allready. But he got my sympathy by non-stop rolling and smoking big Joints, which may could be a reason for playing such an confused set
At 4.00 it was time for Blake Baxter to start. As always he was playing an awesome set on 4 decks, combining rare acid-house classis with some progressive and jacking stuff, creating an sweat-coursing, energetic atmosphere. The only thing I personally didnt like was, that he dropped an strange swing-techno track in the middle of his set, which really didnt fit and was unsettling the audience a little bit. After Blake Baxter Dj Flush started to play at about 6.30, but for my taste he was a little bit to hard, so we decided that its time to go home, after listening to his set for about 2hours..
All in all, I have to admit, that I allready experienced better partys at the Suicide Circus and especially Tyree Cooper was disappointing me, because I would have expected him to be way better, but maybe it just wasnt his day or he wasnt in the best mood.
